The facebook craze must stop! It has spead over the Mississippi College campus like wildfire, and I'm sitting in the dust pondering its appeal. Can you explain?

14 days, 5 exams, and 1 paper until I'm finished with my freshmen year at Mississippi College. This last weekend Kissimee (my social tribe) had a retreat. We watched movies, conducted a bible study, and everyone gave their testamonial. The retreat was a wonderful experience filled with prayer and bonding. -Jessica

I'm celebrating because I am now a brunette, an R.A., and a moderate. Oh how things change. -Jessica
Picture this: You arrive at a shady looking Motel 8, and after checking in you settle down and prepare for a Mock Trial Competition the next day. You are just about to climb into bed, so you pull up the comforter and sheet, and to your suprise and dismay there is blood, hair, and semen covering the entire bottom sheet. No, this is not a bad dream, this occured at the Motel 8 in Samford, AL--in the bed I was supposed to sleep in. This was the gross part of the trip, the rest was better. Let me back up,last week the MC Mock Trial Team went to Samford, AL to compete in regionals against 30 other teams. I had a great team, interesting and challenging opponents, and an overall great experience (with the exception of our accomodations.) Although we did not get a bid to nationals we had one person win best witness and another won best attorney. This was a great experience, and I can't wait to implement these new techniques in our competiton next year. -Jessica (one week until spring break!)
So today I have an RA meeting and then the Mock Trial team will depart for Samford! I'm excited and nervous about the competition. I've invested so much of my time, so I really would like to get a bid to nationals. Wish me Luck! -Jessica

So, it's been a while- it took me a few minutes to figure out how to update. I really enjoyed seeing A.P. Gov't kids over Christmas. I've been crazy busy w/ class, Kissimee Tribe, and Mock Trial. Over the weekend we went to Ole Miss to compete against their four Mock Trial Teams (Does anyone know the overly obsessed Mock Trial Nerd Herb?) Wish me luck at Mock Trial Regionals in Samford! -Jessica
Sat, Jul. 3rd, 2004, 10:24 pm So, I'm back
Well, Europe was wonderful. Rome was the best. Our agenda was Rome (3days), Florence (2 days), Venice (2 days), Nice (2 days), St. Paul (1 day) Paris (3 days). We saw the Vatican, Leaning tower of Pisa, Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Louvre, Orsay, Roman Forum, Coleseum, St. Peters Basillica, Gondelas, Monte Carlo, took high speed train, etc. Oh, and many nude beaches :{ Very different culture, lots of shopping (quite expensive) Loved it, happy to be back, and want to go back again
Back in routine again. Went to orientation the day after I got back. 1st 2 people I met were Jessica and Jessica. There are 20 Jessica's in my freshmen class. Oh well. Talked to my roomate on the phone today. I like her already. Can't wait for school! -Jessica Sat, Jun. 12th, 2004, 10:17 pm
So in 6 hours I leave for Europe (Italy & France) We are taking 3 airplanes(New Orleans to Texas, Texas to New York, New York to Rome) I am very excited. I just hope I don't forget anything, miss any of my planes, or get pick pocketed. I'll be back in 2 weeks and I will post about the trip. -jessica *Sara S. - I left the gov't scrap book and materials on your front porch B/C no one was home. I hope you are not out of town. If you are I hope it is still there when you get back!*

So today I went to work from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. My coworkers gave me a cake and sang to me. My parents sent baloons to the office. In all it was a nice 18th birthday. I'm just excited about voting. I even recieved my voting card today. -jessica

Well, today I trained in the gym in the a.m. and worked in the p.m in the pediatricts pool. The gym went okay, so much to learn, and in peds there were so many cancelations that i ended up swimming laps for 2 hour waiting for someone to show up. But, its all good; I got paid 8 bucks an hour to swim laps. After work I noticed my car inspection sticker had expired in April, and today is June 1st. Whoops.. So after work i drove around town looking for a place that would give me a new tag. The places that were open don't do tags anymore so tomorrow I will set out to find a place that does give tags. 8 days until i'm 18 12 days until Europe jessica
So this weekend we went camping. Anyone who knows me knows that i am not a nature girl. Anyway we drove up on Sat. and stayed overnight. On Sun. the motor home blew a breaker and my gradpa and dad spent all day fixing it. But on the bright side it gave me a chance to read the book of Matthew! Now I am in the middle of writing all my thank you notes! jessica Wed, May. 26th, 2004, 10:43 pm Wednesday
Two years ago I got into an accident leaving Quint's Eye Clinic parking lot. I had only been driving 2 days and I hadn't yet leaned to judge speed. Today my mom asked me to take my brother to the Quint Eye Clinic. She offered to let me park at Big Lot's and then walk over. I told my mom that I might as well park at Quint's and pull out to prove that I could do this. This is quite an insignificant thing to most people, but to me it was conquering my fear. Anyway, I have to work tomorrow so I better get to bed.- Jessica Mon, May. 24th, 2004, 10:49 pm Update
I haven't been on lj since the end of April. It was good to go back and read everyones old journals. Anyway I am recovering from my graduation experience. The cards, gifts, and visiting relatives are slowly fading out. It was nice while it lasted, but I am glad to return to a more normal life. I'm still a little upset that my GPA/Rank was messed up, but it doesn't really matter anymore. I had a good time at the ceremony despite 1 long winded speech. I had fun afterwards, (thanx to everyone 4 coming) I'm sorry some people couldn't come, but I hope you had fun at whatever else you did. I just found out the other day that Freshmen orientation is when I am in Europe, they are going to get to know the campus, meet the other freshmen, and sign up for classes! I asked my mom if i could fly back early and she just laughed at me. Well hope everyone is enjoying their summer!- jessica Mon, Apr. 26th, 2004, 09:26 pm Senior Trip
The trip was fun. I hung w/ Ashleigh, Leah, Jenifer, Cynthia, and Meg. This was my 13th trip to Disney, but I still did new things. I rode Rockin' Roller Coaster and a Unicorn Roller Coaster(sounds real intimidating) for the first time! Grad Night was great Grad Bash was fair. In all it was fun, but I am glad to be home, and glad to be able to sleap at least 6hrs at a time! Only 4 days till A.P. Gov't competition in D.C. -Not ready, Very Nervous, We had a group meeting, then Sonia came to my house, and now she is sleeping while I'm on the computer!(she needs more sleep!) Hope everyone had a good trip!- Jessica
Friday- Senior Skip Day- Slept in 1st block, went to Art 2, wasn't needed in Gov't (no group members) left and went to Coffee Fusion w/ Ashleigh. While we were there Jenny came in and we all had a good chat. Afterwards I went and got my hair highlighted. My parents left town at 5 p.m. and I went and babysat w/ Ashleigh.
Saturday- Came home at 7 from babysitting, got ready, and them met Sonia at the Villa. I went b/c I thought I needed 1 more hour, but actually now I am at 11 community service hours. Later I went to dinner w/ my family and shopping w/ my mom. I got home around 9 and then watched movies from Blockbuster trying to forget things.
Sun.- My family left at 5 a.m. to go back to the soccer tournaments. I went to church, filled in for my mom in the Sunday school office, then I came home and watched more movies. I am enjoying the quietness of the house w/o family. Hope Everyone had fun at Prom Thu, Apr. 15th, 2004, 09:45 pm Thursday
Tonight our A.P. Gov't class invited the parents and community to come hear our presentations. Not many people came, but all the teams did well. While my Unit was presenting Ashley kept cutting me off(quite annoying). While another unit was presenting I must have zoned out b/c i asked an off topic question. (very embarassing) Anyway to a happier topic. Yesterday I went to the St. Paul Wed. Night Dinner because I heard the a woman who is an ordained United Methodist Minister was coming to speak. I was really excited about going since it is not very common to meet women in ministry. She is from Jackson, Miss. and she talked about different aspects of her church, her foreign ministries, and what the duties of a minister are. It was a very inspiring talk. Afterwards I went up, introduced myself, and told her I was going to MC next yr, and I am planning to be a minister. She said that I could come help out at her church several times of the week, and she would "show me the ropes"! I'm so excited!! She also said that it actually is not uncommon to see women in ministry, but she did say it was uncommon in the south. (i'm going to change that)- Jess Tue, Apr. 13th, 2004, 10:21 pm I'm back
After 2 months of absence I am back. This morning had a good start. My friend Blair burnt the DC Talk Jesus Freak Song for me (I'm reading their book Jesus Freak)(really sweet of her)! Then I gave Meg her b-day present ( and she loved it). In 3rd we worked on our national questions. (We need a whole lot of work!) After school I went to the senior mtg and then went to the Ocean Springs Baseball game. They lost the 1st but won the 2nd so they will go to playoffs! Although my day was mostly good I was frustrated while talking to someone about faith in God. I don't doubt what I believe, but I am having a hard time expressing the importance to others. Maybe I'm not cut out to be a minister.- Jessica Fri, Feb. 27th, 2004, 09:40 pm Friday
This past week has flown by. First Mardi Gras Holiday and then this two day school week! I am starting to stress about the 1st AP Gov't essay. Ashley will be home on Sat. and we will begin working as a group on Sun. Sonia and I have started outlining, but we have too many distractions like movies, food outings, and naps (which Sonia is doing as I write)! Through our getting off track I have gotten to know Sonia, and I really respect her as a person and as a friend.Must go, need to work!-jessica Tue, Feb. 17th, 2004, 10:05 pm
Wow, I had a very exciting weekend! On Friday after school I packed for both the Gov't trip and for the Happening. I arrived at the Happening at 7. I really didn't know who would be there or what to expect, but I ended up having an amazing time. (everyone who hasn't gone must go!)I could truly feel the presence of God surround the music, talks, fellowship, faith walk, everything. It was all so awesome! I wish I wouldn't have had to cut out early for Gov't trip, but it was all good in the end especially since we won. On Sunday we left at 4. It took awhile to get there, but the ride was good. I had fun talking to different people. We stopped at Cracker Barrel where we had bad service, wrong orders, but a lot of fun despite all of that. On Monday I woke up early to take a shower and get ready for competition. I was very nervous because I didn't want to make a mistake at competition that would cause my unit or our class to do poorly. In the end I feel that everyone did a great job. There were mistakes, but that happens, and we won so it is all good. I am now just anticipating nationals. I am already starting to think of everything I need to do to prepare. Stress all over again, but I love it anyway!
Today was a good day. In Art 2 we watched Edward Scissorhands and in gov't Bradley brought ice cream (very sweet!). I am so stressed and so busy. I have The Hapening Fri, Sat. and Sunday. Then I leave for state gov't competition at 4 on Sun. I am quite nervous about the whole ordeal. Wish me luck! Jessica |
